Scarves, Soap and Soup

It's the start of the holiday time and we are beginning to collect these sundry items at all three CPL locations for our Mitten Tree located in the Stayner Branch. We have yarn available (Stayner Branch) to knit up into hats, mitts and scarves which will be given to the residents of My Friend's House, an agency and safe haven for abused women and children, situated in the Georgian Triangle. We are also cheerfully taking donations of soap (and other toiletries) and soup (or other non-perishable foods) for the Clearview Food Bank too. Our cow bins are located to receive these donations of Christmas cheer at the circulation desks at all three branches.

Story Hour Sessions

There are a few spaces still available in the late Fall Story Hour session at the Creemore, Stayner and Sunnidale branches. The program introduces young children to the library, to literature, and to a structured preschool program. Each session begins with a short "circle time." Then the group shares news, discusses the date, the weather, and sings an opening song. After the stories, the class enjoys creating an enjoyable craft and/or activity that encourages your child's individual creativity as well as strengthens his/hers fine motor control skills. Please call Glenda Newbatt at the Stayner branch (#428-3595) for more details and for registration in this wonderful preschool program.

Ontario Early Years Programs

The Ontario Early Years teachers are now offering their special nursery school sessions at all three branches too. Please call the Creemore branch (#466-3011), or the Stayner branch (#428-3595) for regular programming details. The OEY program has just started at the Sunnidale branch (#424-6288) and classes are filling fast.

If you wish to learn to navigate cyberspace, buy on ebay, socialize safely on Facebook or just learn a computer works, sign up at the circulation desk for a lesson with one of our TWO CAP (Computer Access Program) students who will teach you "what-you-need-to-know". Julia and Natasha are now available for private tutorials. Please call your branch of choice for their available teaching hours. And remember that our Wireless Internet is available for your usage during opening hours. Please bring extra batteries for your laptop as plug-in cords are considered a safety issue by Simcoe County.
